What is EMR Scout

Outside of advertisements and digital marketing, a PI’s or referring Physician’s patient pool is a strong source of potential subjects, as 81% of patients who have NOT participated in a clinical trial indicated they would be likely to, if they were referred by a physician.

EMR Scout is an AI-powered screening service for a physician’s EMR that immediately identifies all the candidates that match a trial’s eligibility criteria. This solution utilizes Large Language Models (LLMs) trained to perform eligibility assessments, meticulously analyzing every patient medical record (information inside notes and other unstructured locations) within an EMR database and assessing the fit against the study's criteria. With generative capabilities, Quri’s AI also presents a report of it’s eligibility assessment on the patient for each criteria.

This completely automates the daunting and highly labor-intensive process of data-mining through the EMR manually, spending hours sifting through records to locate suitable trial participants. Ultimately, the result is enhanced recruitment and enrollment rates, accelerating study timelines.

A site client was grappling with the challenge of efficiently identifying eligible patients for a COPD study. Traditional methods were time-consuming and often resulted in missed opportunities due to the manual intensity of the current EMR screening process. For example, COPD exacerbations are rarely coded and more likely found in the clinician’s notes.

Due to difficulties in obtaining FHIR API access from eClinicalWorks, the site opted for a manual export of "All Patient Data" for the past year, which was exported and sent to Quri as a Consolidated CDA (CCDA) file.
